The gears grind and groan, the minutes rush by,
I’m sure I have something I must still buy!

It’s hard to believe that it’s so,
Christmas; is it really here? Christmas,
CHRISTMAS? Did I wind my clock?
(The tick-tock, the tick-tock, it simply won’t stop!)

Next year, Christmas or a friend,
Will have to remind me, lest I forget.
And no later than mid-October, I might add,
(To check on the clock and the gifts to be had).
