Graves

Graves

*

Graves,

Graves,

Silent rust down,

Graves,

Graves,

Strained bedfellows we are,

Graves,

Graves,

So far and so near,

Graves,

Graves,

What more can I say?

The Day the Weather Went MAD

The day the weather went mad

A day I thought I had been had,

By the weather extreme, quite obscene,

The day the weather went mad.

He Thought He Saw…

He Thought He Saw…

He thought he saw a politician,

Who lived the perfect life,

He looked again, and saw it was,

A huge, humongous lie .

That’s it, he said, I realise,

The foolishness of life.

 *****

He thought he saw an honest man,

Within the parliament,

He looked again, and saw it was,

Another bloated blimp.

Unless they leave this house, he said,

There will be no hope, I think.

 *****

He thought he saw a banker man,

Who made an honest buck,

He looked again, and saw he was,

Entwined in all the muck.

If I were king, he said,

His head would be on the block.

  *****

He thought he saw a banker’s clerk,

A man of honest youth,

He looked again, and saw he was,

A succubus forsooth.

If he should stay, he said, for sure,

My savings I will lose.

  *****

He thought he saw a kangaroo,

Hopping down his street one day,

He looked again, and saw it was,

A banker’s ill gained pay.

Were I to accept this, he said,

It would be a dark, dark day.

 *****

He though he saw limousine,

With groom and bride, so sweet,

He looked again, and saw it was,

The country on its knees.

We’re lost, he said, the country’s bust,

Kaput, no more, deceased.

  *****

He though he saw a shaft of light,

That shone through all this gloom,

He looked again, and saw it was,

The cold, reflected moon.

If I were young, he said aloud,

I’d make them swing – and soon!

  *****

He though he saw a chink of light,

A way from all this mess,

He looked again, and saw it was,

Their New World Order – yes!

Their ways are bad, corrupt, he said

For them, not us, excess.

  *****

He thought he saw the final words,

Inscribed upon a sheet,

He looked again, and saw it was,

Them sweating from the heat.

They thought us fools, he sorely said,

Come on, we’ve lives to live.

Ring, a Ring, a Rosies

Ring, a Ring, a Rosies

Ring, a ring, a rosies,
A pocketful of posies,
Atichoo atichoo,
We all fall down.

**********

Dancing round the garland,
Children all a’ starving,
Atichoo atichoo,
We all fall down.

**********

Ring, a ring, a rosies,
A pocketful of posies,
Atichoo atichoo,
We all fall down.

**********

Lying in our bedsteads,
Stay there till we’re all dead,
Atichoo atichoo,
We all fell down,
Atichoo atichoo,
We all fell down.

**********

Oh, I wish I’d looked after me teeth

Oh, I wish I’d looked after me teeth,
And spotted the perils beneath,
All the toffees I chewed,
And the sweet sticky food,
Oh, I wish I’d looked after me teeth.

(This was written by the wonderful Pam Ayres).

Normal People

Normal People

What is normal, I ask of you?

Why does everyone aspire, of this, to do?

Why can’t they stop and think again?

Then reject normality, both women and men.

Why do they follow, like cattle do?

I am sure they know it, know that it’s true.

Perhaps acting, so, gives them peace of mind,

Or perhaps it lessens the daily grind,

Pain, however, MUST be met head on,

By doing so we can then move on.

There was an angry old Troll

There was an angry old Troll,

Who wanted to get rid of us all,

So he started to sing,

Like Des O’Connor, real mean,

And bored us to death; did that Troll.

A Slug Called Reilly

There once was a slug called Reilly,

Who was incredibly slimy,

He thought he was smart,

Going out in the dark,

Until he fell down in a hole, did Reilly.

  **********

While stuck in that dark place,

Reilly thought about his life and his fate,

About the jerk he had been,

To everyone he had seen,

So he promised to be good, did Reilly.

  **********

Suddenly, a stick falling into the hole,

Presented a way to escape from it all,

Freed from that space,

Reilly forgot his promise, though great.

And returned to his bad ways, did Reilly.

  **********

One day when Reilly was alone,

He forgot to cover up his dank home,

It was an incredibly hot day,

The sun shone brightly away,

Drying him up, that slug, old Reilly,

 **********

The moral of my story is this,

Treat everyone you meet with a wish,

That their life is just fine,

Untroubled by lying and slime,

Don’t end up like silly old Reilly.

Humpty Dumpty – My Crazymad Way

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men,

Laughed at Dumpty, broken in pain.

 **********

Will you save? Humpty asked in his pain?

My shell it is cracked and also my brain.

If nothing is done by horse or by man.

My time will be gone from nursery rhyme land.

 **********

The king’s horses and also his men,

Felt sorry for laughing at the egg in his pain.

So fetching some glue – and super at that,

They stuck him together though ever so cracked

Skytrain, high train, charging, charging

Skytrain

Skytrain, high train, charging, charging,

Fly train – my train; harken, harken,

To its whistle, blowing, blowing,

Life’s so fast; it’s going, going,

Ebbing from our bodies, groaning,

As Time’s cold scythe cuts through the gloaming

*

Listen, listen; I hear it calling,

Ignore it at your peril – warning!

Before your days are gone and over,

Join me in this bright sky rover

Across the heavens we’ll travel, listening,

To the sounds of eternity, whispering,

Within our hearts, our chi resplendent,

At one with god, in peace, never ending.
