Scrooge and the Ghosts of Greed – a free eBook download.
By Gerrard T Wilson
Scrooge has changed. His money has not.
Nearly a year after the Christmas that transformed his life, Ebenezer Scrooge is generous, cheerful and thoroughly alarmed by a gold sovereign that refuses to stay given away.
Then three words appear in his ledger:
ACCOUNT STILL OPEN.
The message leads him to a shuttered counting-house, a widow whose printing press has been seized, and an old investment he would rather forget.
Inside, something is still collecting.
Possession carries its captives in chained cashboxes. More wears a crown of coins and knows no satisfaction. Excuse whispers in a voice Scrooge recognises all too well.
With Bob Cratchit at his side, Scrooge must uncover what lies beneath the figures before another family loses everything. But these ghosts have little interest in his charitable donations. They have come for something far harder to surrender.
An eerie Victorian tale of haunted wealth, unfinished debts and the courage to put things right.
Some accounts cannot be settled with gold alone.
